In simple terms Reiki is Universal Life Energy. Sometimes it's called Chi, Prana, and Life Force.

Every living thing possesses this Universal Life Energy.  Our body’s energy ebbs and flows as we experience our daily lives. Reiki works to balance this energy on an emotional, mental, physical and spiritual level. When our energy is balanced we are more able to make conscious choices. As a Reiki Master, I serve as a conduit for this energy, allowing it to flow through me to the client. 

Reiki may be used in conjunction with other healing modalities without interference. One of the advantages of Reiki is that it can be performed remotely, allowing the recipient to continue on their daily activities uninterrupted. Utilizing specific symbols Reiki healing energy transcends time and space resulting in the same benefits as if the client were in the same room.

I have designed my Reiki sessions to include a BioMat. (Although you may opt not to use the mat) I find that the combination of modalities produces a profound healing effect when used with regularity.

Here’s a little information about the BioMat:

The BioMat utilizes NASA technology along with amethyst and black tourmaline crystals, in alternating rows, to generate far-infared lightwaves and negative ions. It is registered by the FDA as a Class II Medical Device for safety, based on Nobel prize-winning research into ionic channels and FIR light waves, this technology works at the cellular level and is scientifically proven to address a wide range of health issues.
